Leiden University Fund grant for Anna van Duijvenvoorde

This august, principal investigator Anna van Duijvenvoorde received a grant from the Leiden University Fund of 20.000 euro to help realise her project Studybuddy. Anna about her work: ‘How can we improve young people’s learning? Perhaps an important starting point is their friends. In the teenage years, peers become more important, social influence increases and close friendships develop. With the LUF-Gratema grant I will study whether the social environment of young people has an important influence on their learning performance.’ ‘Can young people learn better with and from their friends? And what role do relationships and cohesion play in the classroom? The grant supports the setting up and execution of a study “in the classroom” in young people between 12-17 years old. In addition to scientific knowledge about learning, this research will result in an infographic with insights useful for secondary schools and young people themselves.’
