Jochem is a PhD student at the Brain and Development Research Center under supervision of Prof. Dr. Eveline Crone and Dr. Sabine Peters. He previously studied Economic and Consumer Psychology, and Cognitive Neuroscience at Leiden University. In his PhD project, he focuses on the neural signature of prosociality in adolescence, with a focus on vicarious gaining (gaining rewards for someone other than yourself). In addition, he investigates the relationship between self-concept and prosociality. His broader interests lie in social psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and decision making. Outside of his work as a PhD student, Jochem likes to be creative with language, and takes an interest in bouldering and programming.
