Susanne Asscheman

Meet Susanne:

Susanne Asscheman

Susanne is a postdoctoral researcher at the Brain and Development Research Center. In her research, she examines the role of peers in the development of prosocial behavior and risk-taking behavior in typically developing and gifted students during early adolescence. In addition, she tries to understand how pubertal development and pubertal hormones may influence this development. Susanne started her PhD project in 2015 at the Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam under the supervision of Prof. Dr. van Lier and Dr. Koot. Her PhD project focused on the influence of peers on the development of prosocial behavior and brain development. During her PhD project she also collaborated with the University of Virginia and University of Massachusetts to examine longitudinal links between peer attachment and the neural processing of risk information across adolescence.
